100′ – DRAMA THRILLER
Is there a hidden message behind unveiling the mysteries of the Shroud of Turin?
What powers might be hiding the true story of the Shroud of Turin?
On May 13, 1981, while several STURP researchers waited in the Vatican to present to Pope John Paul II the results of an exhaustive study of the Shroud of Turin, the pontiff was the victim of an assassination attempt, suffering injuries to his hand, arm, and abdomen. These findings were never able to be officially presented. Years later, the scientific community requested a carbon-14 test to date the cloth. After the tests were conducted, the laboratories attributed a date to the Shroud’s linen that placed it several centuries after Christ.
Combining scientific rigor with a dramatic event that hovers between faith, science, and destiny, this film delves into the grand conspiracy and hidden interests behind the true origin of the most controversial linen in human history.
The Work of STURP with the Shroud of Turin
In 1978, the Shroud of Turin was examined by the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP), a team of about 40 American scientists and experts from various disciplines, including physics, chemistry, biology, and photography. Their mission was to conduct the first in-depth scientific study of the relic. Using advanced instruments for the time, they analyzed the cloth’s fibers, stains, and the mysterious image imprinted on it.
STURP concluded that the image was not the result of painting, printing, or any known artistic technique. They found no pigments, dyes, or brushstrokes responsible for the figure. Instead, the image seemed to be a superficial discoloration of the topmost fibers of the linen threads. However, despite their extensive research, STURP could not explain how the image was formed. Their final report stated that the Shroud is “an object that defies explanation.”
The work of STURP remains one of the most significant scientific investigations of the Shroud of Turin, laying the foundation for all subsequent studies and continuing to fuel debate about its origin and meaning.
